Speaking of bedrooms this week, I got out of mine a little late today and it’s been slow-going ever since. But while we’re on the topic, I thought I’d share a few of our favorite bedrooms from our various travels. It’s such a luxury to stay in gorgeous, comfortable accommodations, and these are no exception:
The Hope and Glory Inn in Irvington, VA is an old schoolhouse turned B&B. Everything about this place is special – from the footed tub in the garden to breakfast at the farm table. This is the perfect place for a romantic getaway, girls’ weekend, wedding or reunion.
I can actually hear the water lapping on the shore when I look at photos of Hotel Saint Barth Isle de France in the French West Indes. These bedrooms are all about serenity.
Healdsburg, CA is a lovely village in Sonoma, about an hour north of San Francisco. It’s the perfect place to stay when touring wine country. Duchamp has six luxurious villas surrounding the pool and garden, offering the perfect respite after a long day of sipping wines and nibbling cheeses.
I have family living in Gyovik, Norway and we fly into Oslo when visiting. Though we’ve never stayed overnight in Oslo, we do plan to make it part of our itinerary one of these days. I think I’ll lobby for a night or two at the Hotel Grims Grenka. You can see more photos here. The rooms are color-schemed based on seasonal themes – summer rooms are done in shades of green and face the atrium; winter rooms are frosty white and icy blue, looking out on to a quiet street.
And of course New York City boasts of many sophisticated, high-style hotels, but the Bryant Park Hotel, with all the allure of Fashion Week, is top notch.
Do you have a favorite place to lay your head?

My husband and I are fans of B&B’s and boutique hotels. We had the privilege of staying at The Lodge Torrey Pines in La Jolla, CA (wedding present from a friend). It’s designed in the Arts & Crafts style, and it’s right by the ocean. I highly recommend it!
