Have you been watching this season’s Design Star on HGTV? I finally caught an episode last night, “The White Room” challenge, which is always a great one to find out each designer’s individual style. While I liked elements in many of the rooms, I was disappointed that there really wasn’t one that I was completely drawn to.
I did agree with the judges that Nathan and Dan had two of the best designs. I thought the orange chandelier Nathan created was gorgeous and his milk dripped walls had a great effect. As for Dan, I loved the cut wood on the walls and reconstructed furniture with wooden legs. I did not, however, care for Torie’s 80s looking paper swirl room. Her zebra “rug” was great, but otherwise I felt like it could have been the set for a bad 80s video…does anyone agree? Or am I feeling the effects of it being Monday morning and being too harsh? As far as the other designs go, I liked Jany’s yellow and turquoise room. It did feel a little predictable, but it was well executed and her Cheerio sconces were a favorite of mine. I though Jason had some great ideas, but his color scheme felt pretty blah to me as well. And in the end, I am more intrigued by what Lonni has to offer this season, than Jen, but feel bad that Jen was sent home over someone who didn’t complete their room.
Overall, I’m excited for what’s in store this season! I’ll have to catch the earlier episodes as they re-run on HGTV. And now I’m curious to know who your favorite designer’s are and what your thoughts are on the challenges so far. What do you think??

I’ve been watching but haven’t watched last nights yet but from reading your entry I see that the person that NEEDS to go home is still there!
I was holding my breath during the first episode when they had the 3 contestants to be voted on. One of them went to the same university as me and I was afraid she’d get on the show and then embarrass herself (and then by extension, me). So silly. I don’t even know her. We weren’t even there at the same time!
