I’ve been admiring this chair from Wisteria for quite a while now. But since I have no business buying another side chair — I have quite a few already — until I have more room in my house to use them all, I need to work with I’ve got.
Well, the new Wisteria catalog arrived this week just as I was getting started on some projects in my guestroom. I realized that I could so easily recreate this look with a beautiful old chair from my grandparents’ house that’s been tucked out of the way in the guestroom (where most things that don’t match end up).
With some heavier weight natural muslin and a 16″ bamboo pillow insert, both from my sewing room stash, I got to work updating my outdated toile upholstered occasional chair. If you’re not familiar with these bamboo inserts, they are absolutely my favorite. They sit like down — that is, full and dense — but are made from a renewable resource that is naturally antibacterial, and cost the same or less than down or feather pillows. Not to mention that our Golden Retriever bird dog goes nuts over the few feather pillows we still have around. The bamboo doesn’t interest her, but she will lick a feather pillow right out of the sky! Fortunately I can throw them in the wash! I digress. See what you think of my new chair:
Now I can pull this comfy chair up to the dining room table, into the living room or even out on the deck and it will fit right in.
And as much as I would like to say that next on my list is to paint those drab green walls, there are a few other projects in line first. Rest assured, they’re getting a fresh coat of something luscious soon, but I’m not quite there yet. Stay tuned…
