I ♥ My Measures

Wednesday, June 8th, 2011

iPhone users, this is one of my favorite apps! I don’t usually spend more than $0.99 on apps, but this one has earned every penny of its $4.99 price tag.

» My Measures & Dimensions

Whenever I’m dreaming up ideas for specific corners of my house, I snap a photo and add some measurements so I’m sure to have my facts in order when I’m running errands.

I also use it to snap photos and make notes of things I see while I’m shopping. I can jot down the measurements, the price, the source and then file it away in a logical place (i.e. not lost in my camera roll among all sorts of unrelated things).

I ♥ They Draw & Cook

Monday, April 18th, 2011

Have you seen this website? I stumbled on it a few weeks ago via skirt! MagazineThey Draw & Cook is an outpost of brother and sister design and illustration duo, Studio SSS.

I often come up short on inspiration when planning a menu (er, getting dinner on the table). They Draw & Cook is not only full of visual fodder, but you can even Dial-a-Dinner and get a random trio of nicely paired recipes! Fun to look at it, easy to print, decision made! How fun…

…especially these new ones from Dwell Studio:

One of these is now on my wish list for our master bedroom.  The hard part would be selecting just one style and fabric!

I ♥ Raspberry Muffins!

Tuesday, March 15th, 2011

I’ve added a few new recipes to my usual rotation recently, trying to get out of a little cooking rut.  One of my favorites is the lemon-raspberry muffins from Eating Well.

{image from Eating Well}

I’ve made these twice in the last 2 weeks, and they are delicious.  The second time I didn’t have a lemon, so I tried an orange, and they were just as good.

I also tried two new recipes on Valentine’s Day, frisée & apple salad with dried cherries & walnuts and cioppino – yummy!

{images from epicurious}

We all loved the ciopinno, especially Violet.  I added shrimp and crab meat to the stew and left out the fish.  It was so delicious, and the salad recipe has become a regular around here.  The dressing is especially yummy – I’ve used it to jazz up plain greens.

If your recipe repertoire could use a little spicing up, give one of these a try or share a new favorite you’ve found!

…this house that was featured on design*sponge.

Did anyone else drool over  John and Vivian Bencich‘s house {photography by Jeff Herr Photography}?  The bedroom is my favorite, but I also loved the bathroom…

…and the kitchen…

…and definitely the dining room.

The wallpaper on the ceiling is so cool!

I'm Lovin'

Friday, January 14th, 2011

Have you seen the new Serena and Lily catalog?  Serena shares a peek at her updated breakfast nook, and I love it!

I’m clearly into navy these days, and I think navy in the kitchen is lovely and fresh.  In fact, I’m thinking of adding some to my kitchen, too (stay tuned for #12 on my list).

Have a great weekend!

I'm Lovin' {Yarn + Felt Wreaths}

Thursday, December 2nd, 2010

A couple of days ago a friend sent me a link to these colorful, crafty wreaths that I absolutely adore! I would like to create a few this holiday season to give as gifts and I was thinking of sticking with a color palette that would be not quite as Christmas-y, something that could be used throughout the year. Have you ever tried making one? Any tips?

I'm Lovin' {Storage}

Friday, November 19th, 2010

I am in desperate need of some more spots to stash toys, and I would love to have these blue Senegalese storage baskets from Serena and Lily.

So pretty, and they are having a sale right now, hmm…

Have a great weekend!

Covetable

Friday, November 12th, 2010

Have you seen the new online magazine Covet Garden? It’s fantastic! Each issue features one home and gives you a glimpse into the lives of the people (big and little) who live there.

{baby Clover's room}

The homes have been lovingly decorated by the owners themselves, and they share their sources – gotta love finding a new place to shop. I also love the idea that readers get to know a little bit about the people who live inside the interesting homes they feature, from favorite books and music to recipes and beauty secrets.

If you haven’t seen an issue of Covet Garden yet, it’s definitely worth a read!

Simple Pleasures

How sweet is this handmade cake bunting by Kiki La Ru on Etsy? Sweet enough to make me want to bake a cake. No, it’s easy enough for me to seek out cake. Let’s say, it’s enough to make me want to celebrate!

And speaking of celebrating, Lexie from Life Interrupted is the lucky winner of two tickets to R.Home for the Holidays this Thursday evening! Congratulations, Lexie!

Cheers to simple pleasures, sunny days and crisp fall evenings. Cheers to winning something fun. Thanks R.Home! Cheers to cake.

I'm Lovin' {modern nature}

Wednesday, October 27th, 2010

I’ll take almost any of the new Modern Nature wallpapers by Schumacher.

I had a hard time just picking a few to share.  I love this one – I’ve been a fan of the fabric version of this fern print by Kelly Wearstler for some time:

The earthy color palette of these birds and branches is charming:

Bold black and white is an unexpected take on botanicals:

It really is time to add to some wallpaper to my house!

I'm Lovin' {clip-ons}

I love how a fabulous bauble can transform ordinary to extraordinary. For example, these handmade shoe clips by Chloe & Maddie could transport an entire outfit from blah to beautiful. These are my favorites but there are lots more to see in their shop
